VFXGrace Advanced Tsunami Simulation Full Course Free Download
This is a large-scale course on the tsunami scene in Houdini, a comprehensive case with many FX elements. In the course we will deal with fluid simulation, RBD simulation, SBD simulation, etc. The course is suitable for intermediate to advanced level FX artists. Starting with tsunami mesh animation, I’ll take you through modeling splashes, fog, building destruction, dynamics of smaller elements, all the way through materials, rendering, and final compositing.
For fluid simulation, in addition to FLIP and whitewater, I will also use POP as particle and fog sources, which greatly reduces the computational load. At the same time, I will present several approaches to generating source code and several particle optimization methods. For FLIP, POP, and whitewater modeling, I’m going to cover the basic ideas behind parameter modeling and practical tips for using different forces, fields, and attributes. For RBD modeling, I’ll show you the basic workflow for demolishing buildings and solving some common problems. On the rendering side, I’ll share useful scene optimization techniques and explain Mantra options and channel setup. Finally, on the compositing side, using useful color grading tricks, multi-channel compositing workflow, and data channel features, I’ll create a realistic CG environment step by step, giving you a clear and complete compositing process. This guide also provides dozens of useful tips, such as different ways to batch a simulation. I’ll share lessons learned over the years of my career, such as how to work with high efficiency, how to stay on track with your goals, and how to minimize the possibility of rework. You will find this guide extremely useful. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be ready to deal with splashes, fog from collisions and collapsing buildings on your own.
