Houdini & Python is an essential combo for any FXTD. In this course, we will take a look into creating tools and systems that will make you question why you didn’t learn Python before.

We will start from the ground up. The first module is catered to beginners so anyone can join. Later modules will get more advanced. Along the way you will build a collection of highly useful tools for freelance or personal use.

WEEK 1 – BASICS
This week, we will begin with the very basics of Python.

WEEK 2 – FUNDAMENTALS
This week, we are finishing our exploration of the fundamentals of Python.

WEEK 3 – INTEGRATIONS
This week, we will take our first look at the HOM module and begin to unpack how Python is integrated into Houdini.

WEEK 4 – HOM MODULE PART 1
This week, we continue our in-depth work on the HOM module, and we start to touch on some more complex and multi-layered modules – particularly when it comes to geometry.

WEEK 5 – HOM MODULE PART 2
This week we will explore the last few aspects of the HOM module which are all vital for us to progress to the practical final project of this workshop.

WEEK 6 – Practical Tools
This week, we will begin our final project, which combines all we’ve learned into a set of practical tools to begin creating your very own pipeline.

WEEK 7 – FINISHING YOUR TOOL
This week, we will continue with our pipeline tool development, and in fact will bring our first tool to completion – namely the Scene Data node.

WEEK 8 – PIPELINES
This week, we begin working on our Save script, which is the next part of our pipeline toolkit.

WEEK 9 – ADVANCED TOOLS
This week, we are moving into the ultimate tool of this workshop.

WEEK 10 – CACHING SCRIPTS
This week, we will wrap up the caching script and test, test, test.
