Asset: Scanned Sci-fi Backpacks (Patreon) Another gift from the Prospect (2018) art team! I did a gig for them a few months back, and part of the deal was that I could share any resulting assets with you all here. A couple of these might already look familiar.
Asset: Destroyed Cars (Patreon)
I’ve been wandering around town and keep finding ruined vehicles, so I made a scanning day of it! The burnt out RV in particular required a ton of cleanup, but I love it.
Also included a few ground patches (one’s just the inside of the burnt RV, but it still works really well.
Asset: Animated Crowd (Patreon)
Should be super self-explanatory, but I also included a quick how-to-use video up above (although for more information I recommend watching the video I just uploaded earlier today). I went through and gave them all a tiny bit of bounce in their step, too, which helps the realism.
Maybe some day I’ll redo this with better photoscans and more variety (the initial scans were mostly just a test, not something I was going to be using, y’know, a lot)- but until then, hopefully this is useful!
Asset: Old Concrete and Structures (Patreon)
Weird Fort Structures
WHEW! These were a lot of work. As I’ve mentioned before, I spent the last month (2?) in a photoscanning frenzy at some local forts and waterfronts, and the intervening time trying to figure out how to optimize the results.
Since I was learning a bit as I go (and still am- figured out a bit since the last “optimizing photoscans” video, which is a kinda embarrassing), if I were to do it all again I’d do a few things differently, but I’m still having a blast with all this stuff, and hopefully they’ll work well on most any machine (the fort stuff I’m not particularly proud of (hard to get the right angles how I’d like), but I’m still including it on the chance folks would rather have it than not).
This is actually two packs in one- old worn cement, and fort-type structures- but there’s enough overlap I figure it’s nice to have them in the same place. I’ve been having a lot of fun mixing them with the ground elements pack (see images below).
Asset: Additional Looping Vapor Elements (Patreon)
One of those “not a great asset, but could be useful for someone” scenarios!
Specifically, these were all made for a shot where a ship hovers over the water.
The actual project file I ended up with is ludicrous and not worth sharing (it works basically just from the specific angle I made it for, and is woefully inefficient to render (although I’d still love to figure out a proper versatile version at some point)), but I still wanted to share the textures just in case they’re useful for anyone.
They’re mostly variations on the “steaming mug” elements, but modified quiet a bit (I’ve gotten an inordinate amount of mileage out of “Continual Wide Puff” and “Continual Single Puff”).
BONUS: one of these might include audio??
